Camilla Saunders/cancantata – composer and musician, who honed improvising skills while working as a theatre musician. Co-founded Footloose Community Arts in 2000. Now based in Wales, and for the past few years have been focusing on using music and performance to explore the lives of small arthropods such as insects and spiders. Recent work includes the Bug Lovers Song Book, published last year. The Sonic Spider is the realisation of a long-cherished dream.
Dr. Alun Anderson, born in Wales, studied in Edinburgh and Oxford. He turned to science writing and journalism and was former editor-in-chief for the New Scientist for many years. His poetic descriptions of the spider’s world and intense sensitivity to vibration have been the inspiration for the Sonic Spider.
Charlie Beresford – designer, musician and audio visual artist based in the Welsh Marches. Studied Fine Art at the then Falmouth School of Art and Design and went on to work in the fields of sound engineering, audio and visual production and in the design fields of architectural and general problem solving. After intense periods of trying to find a practical solution as to how they were to depict the sonic experience of a spider on her web, he came up with what is now ‘The Sonic Spider’.
